my story

Growing up, DeAnne always thought she’d become an artist. Or a rock star. But her mother swears that the first time her daughter pumped a fist in the air it held a drawing pencil, not a guitar, and that’s the way it’s been ever since.

From her childhood, DeAnne has boxes of homemade illustrated books, as well as many creatively characterized toilet paper people—an important artistic base for any young artist! From the age of 15, she knew her career path would involve commercial art and illustration.

Originally from a small town in Saskatchewan, DeAnne followed her passion for art to the Alberta College of Art and Design, where she graduated a Bachelor of Design in 2002. DeAnne now works (and works!) pursuing her many loves: she is an Art Director and Designer, she has a spare-time in-house studio practice as a mixed-media artist, and fits in illustration whenever possible. She finds that by cutting down on sleep and extraneous meals she even has time to hand-sculpt clay for a ceramic jewelry line, and to dabble in some creative sewing projects.

DeAnne lives with husband, Brent, a professional photographer who, together, have a passion for vintage things. They enjoy antique shows and garage sales in search of the next special inspiration item or photo shoot candidate. In the winter they hunker down, hermit like, with their pride joy, Mecca, an overweight guard cat.
